Glimpses of inaugural edition

ZS PRIZE

Winners

Stamurai

Prize - Rs 75 lakh

Millions of people are going through the emotional challenge and stigma associated with stammering and speech impairment. With the current speech therapy solutions being expensive, prone to relapse and inaccessible (only less than 1% of people in India having access to speech therapy), the team came up with a mobile app which acts as a personalized digital coach for the stutter that is both affordable and scalable. Ideas drive innovation, but when personal experiences also fuel the vision, relatability and compassion get added to the mix, and what you have is a winner. Two of the co-founders struggled with stammering from childhood and built the AI-powered speech therapy application to address the unmet need and create a huge societal impact.

CareMother

Prize - Rs 10 lakh

As per WHO, globally 7000 newborns die every day and 500,000 per year are from India. 50% of these deaths are due to preterm birth and asphyxia. Prevalence of these conditions can be reduced by regular fetal monitoring from the 24th week of pregnancy and during labor. To combat this issue, team CareMother came up with an idea of an AI powered portable, wireless and smartphone based fetal monitor that can help make accurate diagnosis of the babies' health and improve healthcare outcomes for millions of expecting mothers.

MedPrime Technologies

Prize - Rs 10 lakh

Other finalists

India Vision

Prize - Rs 2 lakh

India has 12 million blind people, 1/3rd of the world’s blind population, with little or no access to assistive technologies, which leads them to live a life of dependency. This is also a cause of unemployment among them and a low quality of life. To address these grass root level needs of the visually impaired, India Vision has designed a Smart Cap that can process images of text, face, object and scene etc. for the user describing them using speakers or headphones. An idea that can have a large societal impact by solving employability challenges for visually impaired, ‘Bindu Smart Cap’ looks at breaking the stereotypes and providing a sustainable life for the visually impaired.

Predible Health

Prize - Rs 2 lakh

Predible aims to bridge the shortage of expertise in radiology interpretation for lung and respiratory care. Acute shortage of thoracic radiologists often leads to misdiagnosis among 100M+ respiratory patients. 20-30% of early lung cancers are missed; median time to diagnosis for ILD is 11 months. Through LungIQ, the team aims to use artificial intelligence on chest scan images to diagnose lung cancer, Covid-19 and other lung related diseases quickly and accurately.

Pulse Active Stations Network

Prize - Rs 2 lakh

The Pulse Active Stations Network is a connected network of IoT-based Smart kiosks known as the Pulse Active Stations. Each Pulse Active Station generates a report with over 21 body parameters and risk indicators for 12 lifestyle diseases and is placed in a public area with high footfall such as Malls, Hospitals, Stations and other centers for the convenience of the user. The thought of applying AI and interconnecting these kiosks through the power of the internet will only magnify the impact it can have on a large population like India's by creating self-awareness and driving preventive healthcare.
